Justine Mahoney, Paralegal
Justine T. Mahoney began her career as an administrative assistant to one of the principals in 1984. She joined Lynch, DeSimone & Nylen, LLP in 1994 as a legal assistant and closing coordinator. In 2004 she assumed her current position as a paralegal and litigation assistant. Ms. Mahoney works closely with the attorneys at Lynch, DeSimone & Nylen, LLP in all areas of real estate law, including eminent domain and tax litigation. Her main responsibilities include tracking deadlines for and preparation and filing of real estate tax abatement applications with the local board of assessors and subsequent appeals entered at the Massachusetts Appellate Tax Board. Ms. Mahoney monitors the filing of taxpayer responses to statutory information requisitions issued annually by municipalities in connection with the valuation of real estate and personal property, as well as the coordination of filings for entities seeking or maintaining tax exempt status.
In the eminent domain field she is responsible for drafting pleadings including trial memoranda in conjunction with Superior Court jury trials. In addition to tracking discovery deadlines and statutes of limitations, Ms. Mahoney also is responsible for the organization and preparation of trial books and the compilation of trial exhibits.
Ms. Mahoney has over 25 years of experience in the real estate field. She assists in real estate closings by drafting contracts and addenda, coordinating execution, docketing and monitoring contract deadlines, ordering and reviewing loan payoff documents, title and survey work, as well as the preparation of deeds, notes, mortgages, title insurance policies, settlement statements, and curative title documents.
Ms. Mahoney graduated from the Northeastern University Paralegal Program at the top of her class in 2004. As a voting member of the Massachusetts Paralegal Association she keeps fully informed of relevant changes to the law in the areas of her expertise.
